Dont put too much fabric in or you will squeeze all the resin out and get a dry laminate.

I did this once and the micarta started bulging after it was removed from the press as there was no resin keeping it solid.

A rough rule of thumb I use is to squeeze the layers of dry cloth in the jaws of a vernier or micrometer - dont go mad just tight enough to take out any gaps and give a little compression. Use the number of layers that give you the desired final thickness, maybe add a layer or two for safety.
