Thanks for all your comments.
One thing I enjoy as much as making knives is sharing it with others.
I always think that if more UK makers shared their knowledge in the same way US makers do, knifemaking in this country would benefit greatly and hopefully reach the status it has in the States.
The old school 'trade secret' mentality does no one any favours.

Cheers,

Ian

Stunning finish to a great post, realy enjoyed that!
There has been a mystical cloak around knife making for long enough, as you have proved in your post it's not hard, it's more about trying, the more you try the better you get and eventialy you might be able to make something as good as you have made!

Whats next then?

Brilliant mate, your forging of laminated blades is what I aspire to, just out of interest, where do you get your steel saw blades for the forging from??

Thanks for the tuto,

Cheers mate, glad you liked the thread
All my sawblades come for free. I bet if you put the word about to builders, farmers, gamekeepers, etc that you're looking for old blades you'll soon have more than you know what to do with.
Failing that, try your local sawmill. Chances are they've got a few old blades kicking around.
Happy hunting!

Ian

Just a quick update...I was going to post a WIP for the sheath as well, but my computer recently died and took all my pictures with it.
Luckily I still have some pictures of the finished knife and sheath.
Here they are....

Thanks for looking.

Ian
