Default UKBF Fundraiser for SOS

Following on from my post Here

There have been quite a few of you who've contacted me asking how you can help and some offering to donate items in order to raise funds. As we can't hold a raffle (it appears that online raffles/lotteries need to have a licence as per the Gambling Commission) I thought that we could perhaps hold a UKBF Auction. A bit like an online car boot

My thoughts are that we could hold it for 1 week in June maybe or even May? And that you can sell anything (so long as its legal) knife related or not. We could either set a small charge (a bit like an entrance fee) to anyone wishing to sell that week or, sellers can donate the amount they wish from the proceeds of their sales? So what I need you to do is get rummaging in your cupboards and get back to me on here if you are interested in taking part

Or, we could have a few of you auction your goods. Maybe a 48 hour slot each?

Either way we could try promote it across the boards so that hopefully we could drum up some interest

So what I need now is your input, as this is not about me telling you what is going to happen it's about you taking part, if you so wish, in order to help raise funds for SOS
  • Would you prefer an online car boot type of thing or an individual auction?
  • Would you prefer to pay an entrance fee or donate from sales?
  • Are there any other fundraising ideas you would prefer?
Help, help, help

Max, I'll donate some stunning Aussie Red Jarra Burr scales (perhaps Tom would be kind enough to stabilise them for you...) They'd make beautiful knife handles and are v. Difficult to get over there. Perhaps a maker would buy them at auction for a special blade or they could go on a blade to be auctioned.. Blade by Bernie / Tom / ? Maybe with a Lucky Lee sheath... Ok I'll stop hinting guys but you know you want to be involved in that special knife to be auctioned for a special cause...

Okay so this is looking more like donations of items as opposed to the car boot thing soooo

Maybe we should have a list of whose kind enough to be donating what? Then we can perhaps decide the best way forward? Either 1 full week of auctions or, spread out over the month of June say?

I like the idea of that "special" knife but as you know, I haven't a clue I don't know if it would be best to auction it off as a complete knife or as a kit

I wouldn't want you to be out of pocket nor to go to the trouble to make loads and as you say, them not sell. Although I can't see why not as they're great Maybe you could provide up to I dunno say 6? Then if they sell you can either donate more, or not Even if its 1 then it will be greatly appreciated so please don't feel that you have to donate loads

I just want to say to the members here .... No sweat if you don't donate items for the auction, this is not something you should feel that you HAVE to do. Some of you have contacted me and are supporting SOS by other means

And to the members who are donating ..
Thank you, thank you, thank you

So we have:
Knife
Culloch - Aussie Red Jarra Burr scales
Mammoth - Stabilising above scales, liners, handle bolts

Mike Bowler - Blade?

Wolf - Leather keyrings

irbailey - erm to be confirmed. I've deleted all my current pm's by mistake luckily I have some in my sent box but not all
