Hi everyone,

I am new to the knife making world and was advised a forum is the best place to expand my knowledge. I have made a throwing knife which I was pleased with overall just not having much sucess using it!!!
I have alot of sketches and ideas but am having problems sourcing the raw material, the other thing is what ind of steel is best for a beginner, any advice? Also any advise about beginners tools and I also would like to do my own heat treating again as I don't know where does this!
I am sorry if that is alot of questions but as I said I am a complete beginner so any advice will be greatly welcomed!

Welcome to the forum, I am sure there will be plenty of replies, in the meantime I'd search the site, there is loads of information for budding and seasoned blade makers.

First thoughts would be, as a throwing knife, it needs to be a little softer than your regular every day blade or the repetitive impact will eventually break it.

Also good throwers 'generally' do not have a razor sharp nose (As I am sure you are aware).

A thread with pictures in the production and custom knife section perhaps
