Default New Wood Stove

Well ok it's not new and it sure as hell isn't a proper one, but i made a mock up of the Nimble Collapsible Wood Stove to get an idea of the size.
It's being made out of steel (when it arrives) but i thought i'd show off the first version first, a speciality amongst armchair bushcrafters

Cheers Bernie. I've been meaning to make one for a couple of years and saw someoneon BUSA had actually knocked one up so figured i'd do it at last. Going to replace my hexi stove in my webbing and my alpine gas stove in my hiking kit i reckon.
Thing is, my eldest now wants one aswell

Is that the lightweight single use version? Look forward to seeing the actual one when you get it done. Laser cutting?

It is indeed Spam, i hear "crafters" everywhere are using them instead of hexis

Going to hand cut it with an angle grinder and hacksaw with some dremel drilling

Gaillaine did one of these over on BcUK and I think he mentioned that cutting stainless by hand wa a bit of a bitch, so good luck to you! I'd post a link to the thread, but you know how it is with BcUK not working at the minute! Stephen went on to get one laser cut, it even had a nice little emblem he had made up etched into the steel. I think it had some sort of a chimney IIRC. Looked like a really well made bit of kit.

I thought about laser cutting, but i'm wanting to keep the cost down. The steel has only cost me a couple of quid and i've got the tools to cut it by hand.
Wonder how much it would cost to have it laser cut though......

80 plus vat per hour plus putting it into CAD
usually a min of 1 hr

you get a lot cut in an Hour

dunno if you can find a cutter who will do it with other jobs they usually dont

yep not really set up for one offs but if you get 200 cut in your hour and no deburring etc its a lot lot cheaper specially cutting stainless its probably a few hrs work by hand.
