Default Stanley knife balisong legal?

Hi,

Im just wondering if i can get any info on these knifes. Im aware that butterfly knifes are illegal but have seen a few american sites with these small stanley type utility balisongs that say they are legal in california which also has a balisong ban. Would this be legal in the uk? the whole knife including handles only look about 4 inches long.

thx

Good question.

Practically, I'm inclined to think that's the sort of thing that would be expected to be with a bag of tools for a legitimate reason to carry and anybody picking up on it outside of that scenario would possibly use the balisong comparison to push for a harsher penalty if they chose to pursue it.

As for actually acquiring one for a good reason then who knows?

If you want a Stanley knife type thing then sure it's a bit smaller but you don't get to stock the spare blades in the handle like you do with a Stanley. Not sure of the point myself.

I would think a balisong is a balisong, I wouldn't risk TRYING to buy one, especialy through the mail. I seriously think it will be classed as a banned item which is a shame because I really like ballasongs and would love to own a couple. Balisongs that is not the stanley version.
