i have a bandsaw that i wouldnt dream of cutting blades on... its for wood and maybe a bit of aluminium....
however i have access to one at work which runs much slower and is fitted with a metal cutting blade and i use that a lot....
but if its a home type bandsaw you will get sick of changing blades and it probly will be under powered for anyrthging more than 1/8" gfs

Thinner blades and slower speeds, can you not change the belt pully and run at a lower speed?

I was thinking of something similar for cutting slots in sheet metal, both mild & stainless, in 20/22 gauge, any suggestions ?.
