Default made my own Micarta

got an old pair of jeans and cut them up 5" strips then mixed up some fiberglass resin pair of latex gloves greaseproof paper 2 bits of flat wood g clamps.
When you mix your resin only use half the regular amount of hardener into the resin then with gloves on smear the resin on to the strips of jeans work as quick as you can .I had 12 strips and that gave me 7mm of micarta

Heres a pic of my result

Thanks for looking

Mike,

What is the reason for only using half of the hardener? Is it to get more time to lay it up?

Mark.

Mark the hardener takes longer to set that gives you more working time with it and you do need it
