Default Kukri Blade Blanks

Out of curiosity, anyone know if these are any good?

Not used them, but looking at the blank, it appears to have already been flat ground, a la Cold Steel style kukhuris.

Nepalese ones don't tend to use that sort of overall grind, but it depends on your taste and use I suppose.

My Nepalese one for example, has a very slight flat grind, but then a steep convex going down to the edge. The one on the pictures has a steady flat grind that goes pretty much all the way to the edge by the looks of things.

It looks like they're giving the option to add a mini hawkbill on the tip, for that added 'bite', whilst also ruining the ability to swing nicely through some wood.

Could it be that they have to ship them with a totally blunted tip, to pass as dummy blades perhaps?

Pure speculation.

Dummy blades? Wouldn't the edge have to be equally blunt too?

I imagine so, but it's hard to see how well ground the edge is from the pictures. Could have literally a flat edge to it?

They have been heat treated according to the advert and partially ground, so I don't think they're supposed to be used as dummy blades, but I was thinking they might be designed to give the appearance as dummy blades for customs, for example.

Can't see it making a difference to customs. They are legal both here and the US. How sharp they are makes no difference at all.

Never seen anything like it TBH.

You can see on the bottom pic that the edge is unsharpened. It looks like there's still a couple of mm of grinding to be done.

I'll take all these as a general "stay clear" then...

Anyone know where I can get a decent blank from?
