Default Short Swords

Hi

I've seen a couple of people mentioning they'd like to make a short sword in a thread and thought I'd share some photos.

I've been doing WMA (Western Martial Arts) since late 2000 and from that started re-enactment around mid-2001 (Viking and Medieval). Here's some of my short blades (I didn't make any of these, making knives is something only started recently).

First is a pair of Langseaxes; 21" hollow ground blades with plain hardwood handles. Although they'd look awesome with pattern welded blades and horn/antler handles, that'd be a bit expensive for blades with rebated edges just to hit your mates

Second is one of my favourites; 15th century sabre based on drawings from the period. Took about three months of research with Tim from Heron Armouries before we were finally happy that everything was accurate. Blade is 24" with slight hollow grind to tale some of the weight out of it (it's not supposed to handle like a a falchion).

Finally is the Seax, I've posted it elsewhere as it has been my camp knife whenever we're out. Pattern welded blade with a horn/antler stack handle. Blade is approx 7".

Wasn't sure which area to drop this in so put it in general, please move if it fits in better elsewhere

Hope you like them

Corin
