Default New life for old metal

I guess this goes here.

When I was cleaning out the previous owner's junk from my shop a few years ago, I found this chunk of steel under the dust below the workbench. It sat around collecting more dust until I started visiting some bushcrafter sites. That inspired me to build my first knife on almost 30 years.

I took this blank, and tried to turn it into something monstrously unique.
It ain't pretty, but it works.

The blank I found:

Fitted with an old elk (wapiti) shed I found. The guard is made from an old brass door hinge.

Doubles as a splitter, and short sword.

Size comparison to my Kershaw Blackout folder (my EDC).

We have big scary animals in Montana, with big scary teeth, so I wanted something to scare 'em back.

Thanks for looking!

As you can see, Bernie, I share your disdain for mirror finishes. Haha!
Actually, I wanted it to maintain it's character, and show its age. By best estimates, the blank was formed some time in the 1950's, and meant to be used. It took a long nap.

Thanks for the kind words. It's ugly as sin, just like its owner. We make a good team.
